At Lochmaddy |
The Seaprobe Atlantis, taken from the harbour at Lochmaddy, in the Outer Hebrides, on 29th March 1999.
Lochmaddy has been made a marine nature reserve.
To publicise this fact and explain why, The Western Isles Council, Scottish
Natural Heritage and others, chartered Nigel to bring the boat over and take
the local inhabitants out so that they could see what it's actually like
beneath the waves.
During trips on the Friday afternoon and all day Saturday a total of 281 residents enjoyed the day - some three times more than had been optimistically expected!
The weather was good, the sun shone, and everyone loved their free trip! A big success story all round! Much more so than the alternative slide show was likely to have been.
